Lucky Bamboo

When we went to Lowe's last Friday and I bought a lucky bamboo. I was fascinated with this plant. I wanted to buy one of this before at one of the chinese store here but it was expensive. I saw this at Lowes for 10 bucks and never thought twice of buying one. Lucky bamboo, believed by Chinese Fen Shui, will bring prosperity, fortune and happiness to whoever has them. I heard this from people back home and beside from that it is a nice decorative plant inside the house. Well I hope this will bring goodluck to me and my family.:-)

From Wikipedia Dracaena sanderiana, known as Ribbon Dracaena, Lucky Bamboo, Belgian Evergreen or sometimes Ribbon Plant, is a species of Dracaena, native to Cameroon in tropical west Africa. It is one of a group of small, shrubby species with slender stems and flexible strap-shaped leaves that grow as understory plants in rainforests. It is marketed in the developed world as a Chinese decorative plant "Lucky Bamboo" (although unrelated to Bamboo and not native to Asia), propagated from short cuttings, usually in water.

Asian people buy "Lucky Bamboo" when the Chinese New Year is approaching or to celebrate a business grand opening, the purchase of a new home or just for pure good luck ! "Lucky Bamboo" has the following spiritual meaning:

* Career - Climb up the ladder (advancement)
* Business - success in business venture (prosperity)
* Health - Harmony and peaceful life (longevity)
* Religious - Gracious, honorable and virtuous (Zen)
* Relationship - Energize your love life
* FengShui - Creation of positive energy in your environment (Chi)
How to Grow and Care;
Lucky Bamboo grows in water like cut flowers, but it will last for years. Place the bamboo in shallow water (about 1/2" - 2") in a vase. For best results change the water every other week. It is not necessary to feed the lucky bamboo.

Lucky Bamboo adapts to a new environment easily. Low light to bright indirect sunlight suits them well. It prefers temperatures ranging from 45 - 90 F.
