Keeping Kids Safe on the Playground

The playground equipment that children use needs to be safe to use as well as fun to use. If a child gets hurt while using the slides, the swings or while playing on the monkey bars, it could result in a lawsuit. In addition to the money that may be lost if a town or city loses a lawsuit, a small child is going to have to recover from his or her injuries.

In an effort to avoid hurting a child, the equipment that children play on should not have sharp corners on them. This could make it more likely that a child gets a cut or scraped skin that could become infected if not taken care of properly. The good news is that our playground equipment and equipment produced by other companies is made to avoid sharp corners that could result in injuries.

As children will run and don't always look where they are going, it is likely that a child could fall while playing. If a playground has surfaces that are soft or springy, it is unlikely that anyone will suffer anything more than a rug burn from falling. For parents, knowing that their child is safe will help them feel better about taking their kids to the playground or allowing them to play on the playground as part of a class trip or while participating in an after school program.
