It was last year when I found out about this Filipino community here in Pittsburgh through our Filipino neighbor. It was a long story though, but to make the story short, Mr. Boyet Tarun our neighbor gave me his calling card number and an invitation to Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh (FAAP). I registered for a membership right away as I find myself feeling the sense of acceptance and belonging. It feels like I have found a home and a family here in this foreign country.
FAAP was started as a social group back in 1957 then formally organized as the Samahang Pilipino ng Pittsburgh (SPNP) in 1964, which later became the Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh, Inc. (FAAP) in 2000 when it was incorporated as a non-profit organization. The FAAP community was built with a mission to preserve, promote and perpetuate the Filipino heritage among our members and the general public through cultural, charitable and educational activities. The Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary Recital with the theme “PARANGAL: A Tribute to the Past, a Gift for the Future”. For more information and details about the event, I encourage you to check out the FAAP Dance Troupe on Facebook. Learn more about FAAP by visiting their website. Proceeds from the event will benefit FAAP Dance Troupe Programs. Below is the post that i copied from the FAAP Facebook page to share the information to all of you. So, check it out and hope you'll be there on the recital.

I told my husband last night about it and he's very interested. But too bad that it falls on a Sunday. We'll be out of town that day. Wish there's next time.
