ABC Wednesday - Y is for Yak

Y is for Yak

This was the postcard for Jake from his cousin Jacob in Chicago. They went for summer vacation in Wyoming Montana and he sent Jake this postcard. That was really thoughtful of him though.

The English word "yak" derives from the Tibetan, or gyag – in Tibetan this refers only to the male of the species, the female being called a dri or nak. In English, as in most other languages which have borrowed the word, "yak" is usually used for both sexes.Source from Wikipedia

Well, I've learned something today! I had no idea that 'yak' meant only the male! Not that anyone here will know what I mean if i say 'nak'! LOL!

Interesting post - on behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday this week! :)
